Once upon a time there lived a poor widow and her only son, Jack. One day Jack's mother told him to take their cow to the market and sell her for a few coins. Jack agreed, and so he set off on his journey.
Once in the market, Jack found a strange old man selling mysterious beans. Jack was curious and asked the man what they were. The old man said they were magic beans and that if Jack planted them in his mother's garden they would grow a magical beanstalk. Jack decided to take a chance and bought the beans.
When Jack got home, his mother was very angry with him for trading away the cow. But Jack told her his story and showed her the beans. His mother told him to plant them and see what happens.
The next morning, Jack woke up to find a huge beanstalk reaching up into the clouds. Jack decided to climb up the beanstalk and see what he could find. After a long climb, he saw a giant castle in the sky. He snuck inside and found a giant sleeping in a chair. Jack crept around the castle, searching for something valuable. He found a golden goose and a large bag of gold coins. He quickly grabbed them and ran down the beanstalk.
The giant woke up and saw Jack running away. He chased Jack down the beanstalk, but Jack made it back safely. His mother was amazed when Jack showed her the golden goose and the bag of coins. She thanked Jack for his courage and cleverness.
Jack and his mother used the money to live happily ever after. They never had to worry about money again. Jack had learned a valuable lesson: sometimes taking a chance pays off.
