A story of self sacrifice and bravery - Mind map

 Section -I

1. The aircraft, Pan Am Flight was hijacked by the terrorists on September 5, 1986.

2. The terrorists were intent on targeting the Americans.

3. Neerja threw the passports down the garbage chute.

4. She alerted the pilots too.

5. Pilots escaped through an alternate exit.

6. Terrorists opened the fire.

7. Using this chaos Neerja started evacuating the passengers.

8. When she was about to leave she saw three kids.

9. She rescued them but she got hit by bullets.

10. She met with a heroic death.

Section -II

1. Neerja Bhanot was born on 7th September 1963 in Punjab.

2. She graduated from St.Xavier's College, Mumbai.

3. Her marriage life became disaster. 

4. She made appearances in few advertisements.

5. She applied for a flight attendant's job with Pan Am. 

6. She was selected and sent to Miami for training.

7. Then she was sent to London to become a purser.

8. Soon she became a senior flight purser.

1. Neerja rescued a large number of people and gave up her life selflessly.

2. So Indian Government awarded her the Ashok Chakra.

3. In 2004, A postage stamp was issued in Neerja's honour.

4. In 2005, The American government awarded her the 'justice for crimes award'.

5. Neerja's parents set up the Neerja Bhanot Pan Am Trust in memory of her. 

6. The Trust presents 2 awards every year for great deeds.
